Client: City of St. Albert

Role: Policy Planning, Public Consultation

Year: 2016-2017

Project Description: The City of St. Albert originally had a Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) that acted as the Subdivision and Development Approving Authorities and Advisory body up until 2005. In 2008 the MPC was eliminated after serving as an advisory body on St. Albert’s Municipal Development Plan. Since the elimination of the MPC, various measures have been taken to address concerns in relation to public engagement and application processing timelines.

GSA co-led a full 360-degree review of an MPC in St. Albert through a comprehensive multi-stakeholder consultation program. Key responsibilities involved co-facilitating a series of consultation sessions for a wide range of stakeholders and providing recommendations for the feasibility of an MPC in St. Albert.
