Project Description
GSA completed the final revisions is to the Town of Whitecourt’s Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB). While working at planningAlliance, GSA principal Dnyanesh Deshpande led all aspects of the MDP and LUB update including project management, policy and regulation drafting, urban design and planning. The MDP defines principles, goals, and policies for sustainable future growth and reflects the history of the community. The LUB is consistent with the direction of the MDP and all Provincial legislation, policy, and plans. Vitalization regulations for the Downtown Core and Highway 43 Corridor, within Whitecourt, were developed into the LUB framework. Additionally, the LUB includes architectural controls and landscape regulations for developers and home owners. Throughout the duration of the project, a comprehensive public engagement process included community consultation sessions, public open houses, technical working groups, surveys, web materials and social media.
